Counselor's Corner
Hi! My name is Lisa Holdbrook. This is my 17th year with Bandera ISD and my 13th year at Alkek Elementary. I am beyond excited to be here! Before joining the Alkek team I was the Special Education counselor at Bandera Middle School & High School. I earned my Undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and my Graduate degree in Counseling and Licensed Professional Counseling from UTSA.
As your school counselor, I provide individual and group counseling, classroom character lessons, parent conferencing, teacher support and crisis intervention. I am also the campus STAAR testing, Section 504 and At-Risk coordinator. I am involved in RTI and parent conferences and am happy to offer further support as needed.
The main guidance themes for this year are College & Career readiness and bullying prevention. There will be classroom lessons and school-wide activities to support these. Be on the lookout for future information that your child will be bringing home. Our monthly themes are as follows:
September – Work Hard*Be Kind*Dream Big
October – Drug & Bullying Prevention
November – Thankfulness
December – Goal Setting
January – Growth Mindset
February – Random Acts of Kindness
March – Friendship
April – Reach for the STAARS!
May – Career Exploration
It is my honor and pleasure to have the opportunity to support your wonderful children. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, you can call me at (830) 460-3900 or email me at lholdbrook@banderaisd.net.
